SPECIMEN COLLECTION
Specimen type:	Plasma (preferred) or serum
Preferred collection container:	6 mL lavender-top K2 EDTA tube
Alternate Collection Container:	6 mL red-top (plain, non-serum separator) tube
Specimen required:	3 mL aliquot of plasma (preferred) or serum; minimum 1 mL. Please submit a separate frozen aliquot for this test. It may not be combined with any other test requiring a frozen aliquot.
Patient preparation:	Patient should not be on any steroid, ACTH, gonadotropin, or rstrogen medications, if possible, for at least 48 hours before specimen collection.
SPECIMEN PROCESSING
Specimen processing instructions:	Centrifuge and immediately separate serum or plasma specimens from the cells into clean, plastic screw-capped vial(s).
Transport temperature:	Frozen.
Specimen stability:	Room temperature, refrigerated: Unacceptable. Frozen: 90 days
Rejection criteria:	Room temperature and refrigerated specimens unacceptable.
