Centrifuge blood at 15-30 degrees C and 2000-2200 rpm (800-1000 x g) for 5-6 minutes. Separate plasma from cells as soon as possible. Pipette or pour plasma into polypropylene or polyethylene tubes. | |
Transport temperature: |
Refrigerated (preferred). Room temperature or frozen specimens also acceptable. | |
Specimen stability: |
Room Temperature: 5 days. Refrigerated: 12 days. Frozen: 30 days. | |
Rejection criteria: |
Stability limits exceeded. Specimen collected in gel barrier tube. | |
