Clinical significance: |
Mumps is an acute, generally self-limiting, contagious disese with moderate fever of short duration. A positive mumps IgG antibody in conjunction with clinical findings may aid in the determination of immune status and/or aid in the diagnosis of mumps infections. Antibody response to vaccination is typically lower than that of a natural infection. Acute infection is diagnosed by testing for mumps IgM antibody. | ||||||||
