Collect specimen after an overnight fast (or at least 4 hours after a meal), if possible. Nonfasting samples are acceptable for pediatric patients. | |

Specimen processing instructions: |
Centrifuge 10 minutes at 3000 rpm. Centrifuge within 30 minutes of collection. Immediately separate plasma specimens from the cells into clean, plastic, screw-capped vial(s). Aliquot 2 mL of plasma. | |

Frozen (preferred) or refrigerated. | |
Specimen stability: |
Room Temperature: Unacceptable. Refrigerated: 7 days. Frozen: 30 days. | |
