Special notes:
Using the "Cervex broom," insert the long tines into the anal canal and twist clockwise 4 times. Pop off the broom tip into the SurePath vial which is labeled with the patient name and medical record number.
For HPV testing on anal pap specimens, a separate specimen must be submitted. This specimen must be collected using the Digene Cervical Sampler/Specimen Transport.

Rejection criteria:
Inadequate patient identifiers on specimen, unlabeled specimen, discrepancy between patient specimen and requisition information, improper collection, brush tip not submitted.
