SurePath vial: Using the "Cervex broom," insert the long tines into the anal canal and twist clockwise 4 times. Pop off the broom tip into the SurePath vial which is labeled with the patient name and medical record number.. ThinPrep vial: Using collection device, insert the long tines into the anal canal and twist clockwise 4 times. Swish the collection device into the ThinPrep vial. Do not submit the collection device in the ThinPrep vial. Label with patient name and medical record number. For HPV testing on anal pap specimens, a separate specimen must be submitted. This specimen must be collected using the Digene Cervical Sampler/Specimen Transport. |
