Do Not Refrigerate or freeze tube. Specimen stable for only 4 hours. If drawing Verify Now Plavix analysis, specimen needs to be drawn in separate tube. | |

Clinical significance: |
Aspirin is used to permanently alter the platelet enzyme cyclo-oxgenase and block the Thromboxane A2 pathway. The effect of aspirin lasts while the platelets are in circulation. Aspirin use will result in a lower answer than the reference range. | |
