Testing only performed at GMC Monday-Friday day shift. Collection for other sites limited to Sunday-Thursday due to stability issues and transportation availability. Patient may present at GMC on Friday for testing if required. | ||||||||||||

Room temperature if received in testing laboratory within 2 hours of collection. Refrigerate for up to 24 hours. | ||||||||||||

Rejection criteria: |
Highly turbid urines. Urines greater than 24 hours old. | ||||||||||||

Clinical significance: |
The presence of eosinophils in the urine is suggestive of allergic conditions, asthmatic disorders, and parasitic infections. There are also increased numbers found in the urine in cases of acute interstitial nephritis. | ||||||||||||
