4.5 mL blue top (3.2% sodium citrate) tube
Specimen required:
Six (6) 3.2% sodium citrate blue top tubes, as above.
Special notes:
This test must be scheduled with the Hematology/Coagulation Laboratory (570-271-6323). Test available Monday through Friday. Specimen should be drawn and received in the laboratory as soon as possible between the hours of 9 a.m. and 12 noon. Collection and testing to be done at Danville lab only. Specimen should be hand delivered to the Hematology/Coagulation Laboratory, not sent through the pneumatic tube system.
Patient preparation:
Platelets should be > 100,000/mm3. No aspirin-containing medications, non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs, or cardiovascular meds such as dipyridamole for two (2) weeks prior to testing.

SPECIMEN PROCESSING
Specimen processing instructions:
Do not centrifuge, refrigerate or freeze specimen. Processing is to be done by GMC Laboratory personnel. 
Transport temperature:
Room temperature.
Specimen stability:
Room temperature: 4 hours.
Rejection criteria:
Clotted specimen or platelet count less than 100,000/mm3.
