Special notes: |
Only the HoLogic Specimen Collection Kit must be used. Contains Dacron swab and tube with buffer. Specimens must be obtained prior to digital examination or manipulation of the cervix. These substances will interfere with testing: lubricants, soaps, disinfectants, creams, and Betadine. | |

Patient needs preparation for speculum examination. | |

Fetal fibronectin is a protein that helps adhere the placenta to the uterus. In cases of placental separation, FFN is detected at elevated levels in cervicovaginal fluid collected by swab and suggestive of preterm delivery. | |
