Special notes: |
Specimens must be collected on a time schedule (Fasting, 0.5 hour, 1 hour, 1.5 hour, 2 hour, 3 hour, 4 hour and 5 hour). Place specimen on ice, or centrifuge and separate plasma from cells. | |
Patient preparation: |
8-hour fasting is required. After collection of fasting specimen, 75 g of glucose should be given immediately for adult. For children (under 18 years of age), 1.75 g glucose/kg ideal body weight up to a maximum dose of 75 g or per physician request. | |
