6 mL red-top (plain, non-serum separator) tube
3 mL lavender-top (K2 EDTA) tube
Specimen required:
1 mL aliquot of serum; minimum 0.1 mL.
Special notes:
Separate serum within one hour of time drawn and refrigerate. Can be drawn on gel barrier but needs to be separated within one hour of draw time.

Specimen processing instructions:
Centrifuge and transfer serum or plasma specimens to clean, plastic, screw-capped vial(s). 
Transport temperature:
Room temperature.
Specimen stability:
Room Temperature: 28 days. Refrigerated: 28 days. Frozen: 28 days.
Rejection criteria:
Stability limits exceeded. Grossly hemolyzed, lipemic or icteric samples.

Low levels of C2 indicate increased catabolism (as in immune complex disease) or decreased synthesis.
