The cervical transition zone is sampled with the SurePath broom (long tines inserted into the cervical os and the broom twisted clockwise 4 times). The broom tip is then "popped off" the sample handle into the SurePath vial with preservative solution. The vial (with solution AND broom tip) is labeled with patient name and medical record number prior to submission to the laboratory. | |
