Swab is in a special collection device called the AFFIRM (TM) VPIII Ambient Temperature Transport System (ATTS). **PLEASE MAKE SURE THAT SWAB IS SENT IN MEDIA AND CAP IS COMPLETELY TIGHTENED**

Specimen stability:
Room Temperature: 3 days. Refrigerated: 3 days. Frozen: Unacceptable.

Specimen rejected if swab not received in media. Specimen received frozen. Specimen received past stability.

TEST DETAILS
Additional information:
Cervical specimens should be avoided because of the effect of elevated sialidase activity. Specimens should not be collected from a patient who has used any vaginal product in the previous 72 hours, e.g., cream, gel, spermicide, or douche.

Clinical significance:
The three main categories of vaginitis are bacterial vaginosis (BV), yeast vaginitis (candidiasis), and T. vaginalis vaginitis (trichomoniasis).
