Specimen required:
2 mL EDTA lavender-top tube with minimum 1.6 mL whole blood.
EDTA microcollection tube with 250-500 uL whole blood.
Special notes:
Testing should be started as soon as possible after collection.

The presence of Heinz bodies may be due to an enzyme (G6PD) deficiency, unstable hemoglobin variant, thalassemia, and autoimmune hemolytic anemia.
